This strop is constructed from the rear section of a horse hide, directly next to the location shell cordovan is cut. This area of the hide is know for its tight compact grain which makes it perfect for stropping material.
This is my edc version of an old hanging barber strop. It is not attached to a board because it is rigid enough to stand alone while still being flexible enough to bend for use with recurve blades. As opposed to a stone, some amount of flexibility is desirable in a strop.
I have conveniently labeled the sides 1 and 2 for order of use. It is recommended to start on 1 (the rough side) and then progress to side 2 (the smooth side) for the optimal razor sharp edge.
This product can be used with or without stropping compound.
The approximate size is just under 2”x8” and will include a leather lanyard.
